Welcome to WIMPWIRE.COM
"Wimpwire" - the term made legend
by Kerrang aor/melodic rock guru Derek Oliver is now honoured with
it's own web presence. With changing trends 'our' music be it - hard rock, melodic rock
aor, pomp, prog, glam, retro, classic or plain big haired heavy metal of days gone by was sometimes labelled as "wimpy"
by individuals who didn't quite understand the appeal. Hopefully this site will
continue the legacy championed by Derek by venturing back in time and also move forward into the now continuing to focus on music that
makes you want to whip those pantaloons off and swing them around your head in joy!.
These pages were started by a few of us
marvelling in dejavu over the glory days and the joy that Maestro Oliver's Wimpwire
brought to devotees of the melodic style. With sand ever passing thru the hour glass many
new fans of melodic rock had
not read the classic ramblings of Derek's wimpy discoveries and the old kerrangs were getting
harder
and harder to find. The legacy of Wimpwire although monumental to some
seemed to be fading...hopefully the scanned columns are
imortalised somewhat here and shared to a new generation of "wimps".
Melodic rock fans are some of the most diehard and dedicated we hope the site
can bring out some good memories and hopefully some new ones with new music also
to be featured here.
The site is still very much 'Under Contruction'
so we hope people can be patient while we fine tune and get things rolling. Feedback is always
welcome so feel welcome to drop us a line at wimpwire@hotmail.com with any ideas and of course please feel free to sign the
guestbook.

**Anyone who wishes
to help with the vintage MP3 Demos in the SOUNDS section is also welcome to drop us a
line at wimpwire@hotmail.com with
what you have and we can look at sharing along with what's coming up in the changing over of songs. We have had lots of
feedback so thanks to all who have been supportive and sent interesting MP3's in.
